The Parish of Claife is situated in the beautiful English Lake District, between Lake Windermere and Esthwaite Water. Its villages include Colthouse and High Wray (upper Claife) Cunsey, Far Sawrey and Near Sawrey (lower Claife).
The Claife Parish Council web site has been set up to give Parish residents details of the Council, what it is doing and what it is discussing. It also gives access to the Council meetings’ minutes and provides details of the next Parish Council meeting so that residents can attend if they wish.

The Parish Council is a Statutory Consultee for planning within the parish. This means that the local Planning Authority (Lake District National Park) must consult with the Parish Council prior to a decision being made on a planning application. The Parish Council has 21 days in which to make representation on the planning application. Although the Parish Council is invited to make representations on applications it is the Planning Authority that will determine the application.
